About the artist

ART

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember - but only 'seriously'' in the last few years. Perhaps I should have realised sooner that I was meant to be an artist, as I have been selling my paintings since high school. Over the years I have had commissions for portraits, landscapes and abstracts. I have recently started doing exhibitions, and have been blown away by the response my art has received.

I have trouble pinning down my style, so I just let myself paint whatever I want, whenever I want. I think this is the only way I can work as an artist. I like sparse, empty space, I love busy opulence, I love EVERY colour, intricate detail, raw expression, figures, flowers, abstracts, patterns, painting, drawing, collage, and…and…and!

Every painting is a genuine love affair with whatever moment I was having at that time.

MUSIC

I have always loved music, and grew up in a family of music lovers. However, neither me nor my brothers could stick with our piano lessons. I started learning classical guitar lessons when I was 24 years old. The structured approach of classical lessons was perfect for me. I sometimes need rules and deadlines in order to get anything done!

After having my first child, I suddenly had an overwhelming urge to write songs – and they came flooding out at a rapid pace. After 7 years of writing, I had so many songs banked up in my head I decided to record them professionally. This was a way to get them out into the world (and free up some hard drive space in my head!).  I think of my songs and artworks as little gifts to the world - hopefully they find their way to people that love them.
